EDI Branding for Northwestern University

Northwestern University’s school of Engineering Design Innovation was looking for a fresh new look that captured the spirit of the creative maker mindset of their students and programming. I was tasked with coming up with a series of branding deliverables that relied on a clean aesthetic with modern patterns that also closely followed the existing Northwestern University visual brand style guides.

Client: Northwestern University

Role: Graphic designer

Skills: Graphic Design, Visual Design, Branding, Presentation Design

Team: Graphic designer (me), Project Manager

Timeframe: 6 weeks

Logo lockup with patterned new background, following Northwestern’s approved color palette.

I created a custom pattern for the new brand that conveyed a classic modern aesthetic while keeping close with Northwestern brand standards.

Variations of slide deck title slides.

Various schwag items featuring the new logo and branding, including t-shirts, sticker, and notebook. Some featuring an alternate EDI + Northwestern logo lockup.

Examples of how the brand played out in infographics and student materials.

The final deliverable included a visual style guide for the new brand which included logo guidelines, pattern usage, typography, and colors.
